UN urges respect for ceasefire amid escalating hostilities in Lebanon

NEW YORK, 29th May, 2026 (WAM) -- The United Nations has expressed deep concern over the escalation of hostilities in Lebanon, including the Israeli shelling of southern Beirut on Thursday.

Spokesman for the Secretary-General urged all parties to respect the cessation of hostilities and to refrain from launching further attacks. He reiterated his condemnation of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
